Anxiety can be challenging to deal with, but there are ways to prevent it.
If you have mild to severe anxiety, you know firsthand how debilitating this mental health condition can be. When you go through periods of high anxiety, it gets substantially harder to perform at work, study at school, care for your household duties, interact with friends and family members, and simply live a normal life.
If you experience regular bouts of anxiety and want to prevent it from becoming a chronic condition, we can help at Innerlogic PLLC. As a mental health clinic in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, we recognize that complete anxiety prevention is not always possible, but there are ways to manage symptoms and keep them from becoming overwhelming.
Some of the practices we recommend for anxiety prevention include the following:
- Exercise regularly—Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity. Even just a brisk walk can do wonders for helping your anxiety.
- Get enough sleep—It’s easier to feel overwhelmed when you’re tired. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night.
- Maintain a balanced diet—Processed or sugary foods can negatively impact your mood and energy levels. Eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and grains.
- Challenge negative thoughts—Anxiety can stem from distorted thinking patterns. When you start to experience unhelpful thoughts, practice recognizing them and replacing them with more positive, realistic ones.
